  • Phone line requirements—Covad DSL (TeleSoho) services use the same line as your regular phone service which must be with one of the major local phone companies, and there cannot be advanced phone services on your line. details

  • Dial-up service—Covad offers 10 hours/month national 56K dial-up service; additional time billed at $1.50/hr.¹
  • IP addressing—One fixed public IP with network address translation (NAT) support, or up to five static IP addresses available for $10/month details

Installation

Standard Installation

  • Self-installation kit typically arrives within two weeks of placing the order
  • Service is ready to go upon arrival of self-installation kit
  • The wireless kit includes a helpful wizard for the self-installation, set-up, and wireless configuration
  • 30 minutes to set up and get online
  • If you run into any difficulty during the installation, call our customer care center toll-free 24x7x365 and an installation expert will help you

Professional Installation

  • A Covad technician will come out to your location and install your service for a one-time installation fee of $175
  • To order professional installation, be sure to select the Professional Installation option when ordering service

Wireless Installation

  • For wireless professional installation, the Covad technician will:
    • Configure your wireless equipment with security enabled
    • Set up a maximum of two computers on the wireless network, using Covad-supplied adapters only

Phone Line Requirements

  • You must have a local telephone service through one of the following local phone companies:
    • AT&T (formerly Ameritech, SNET Southwestern Bell, SBC/PacBell)
    • Verizon
    • Bell South
    • Qwest
  • The information (name, address, and telephone number) provided to Covad when ordering service must match exactly the information on your local phone bill. There are certain voice services that you may be using that are not compatible with this service. If you have one of the following services: Centrex, PBX, or Key Systems, Covad may be able to provide a Dedicated DSL (TeleSoho) service. details

Standard Equipment

  • Wireless* 802.11g router connects up to four wired computers and up to thirty wireless computers. Includes built-in firewall and NAT support.

Optional Equipment

  • Wireless* 802.11g router with PC card adapter—Connects up to four wired computers and up to thirty wireless computers. Includes built-in firewall and NAT support. PC Card adapter is used to connect one Windows-compatible laptop computer to a wireless network.
  • Bridge—Single-user solution (supports single IP address only). Simple to install and configure.
* Wireless networking can be disabled during installation if desired.

IP Addressing

IP configuration options:

  • One fixed public IP address with NAT standard
  • Five static IP addresses for an additional $10/month

Both configurations allow you to host servers and conduct online meetings with clients and colleagues. Unlike dynamic IP addresses, which change, fixed and static IP addresses remain the same, making it easy to find you each time you engage in Internet-enabled group communications.
